Internal Medicine Management

Small animal internal medicine encompasses a range of diseases—both acute and chronic—involving, but not limited to, the respiratory, renal, hepatic, gastrointestinal, neurologic, cardiac, endocrine, and immune systems. Some more common disorders we see include gastrointestinal disease, chronic and acute renal failure, protein-losing disorders, immune-mediated diseases, heart disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, Addison’s disease and Cushing’s disease.

These diseases can often be diagnosed and managed in general practice, but in some instances, may require referral to an internal medicine specialist. Additionally, Land O' Lakes Animal Hospital works with local specialists who provide on-site services integral to internal medicine at our clinic; these include radiology, limited ultrasound capabilities and cardiology services.
