Dr. Heather Highbrown
Medical Director
Dr. Highbrown received her DVM degree from Ross University completing her clinical year at University of Minnesota, graduating in 2009. She grew up near Syracuse, NY where she obtained her BS in Environmental Sciences at SUNY ESF. After graduating, she practiced at a clinic in the Central New York area for 11 years serving as the medical director for 4 years. Her family moved to Florida in 2021 to raise their son closer to extended family. Dr. Highbrown joined the Land O Lakes Animal Hospital team in 2022 and currently serves as medical director. She has been a member of AAFP for the majority of her schooling and career and was feline friendly certified during her career in New York.
Dr. Highbrown is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Florida Veterinary Medical Association and served on the member board of the New York VMA for many years. She loves traveling, art, technology, and learning new things all the time. Dr. Highbrown strives to bring new skills and knowledge to our great hospital and provide additional services to help our beloved patients stay happy and healthy so owners can focus on loving them.

Dr. Jean Mahlman
Veterinarian
Dr. Mahlman received her DVM degree from the University of Florida in 1989. She has practiced as a small animal clinician in the Tampa Bay area for 25 years. Dr. Mahlman grew up in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and earned her BS degree from The Pennsylvania State University. In addition to her own pets, her hobbies include: gardening, reading, hiking, and raising baby squirrels.
